Jim's Award Winning Chili

This spicy hearty chili recipe is a family favorite. Perfect for cold winter nights.

Note that this will be 4 star spicy--reduce spice amounts proportionally if you don't like it hot.

Also, the Chili is much better the next day, after spices have had time to meld.

Ingredients
  • 2 Cans Kidney Beans, drained
  • 2 Cans Black Beans, drained
  • 2 Cans Crushed Tomatoes, drained & chopped
  • 3 Cans Tomato Sauce
  • 1 Small can Tomato Paste
  • 1 Medium Onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, diced
  • 2 Lbs Lean Ground Beef
  • 3 Tbsp Jalepenos, chopped
  • 2 tsp Honey
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil

Spices
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 5 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 2 Tbsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Coarse Black Pepper

Directions
  1. Brown the ground beef in a 5 quart or larger pot.
  2. In a separate sauce pan, saute onions, jalepenos, and garlic in olive oil until onions are translucent.
  3. Drain and chop the diced tomatoes.
  4. Combine all ingredients into large pot and simmer for at least 30 minutes.
